Become a volunteer:

The British Schools Museum is proud to be an independent Museum managed and staffed almost entirely by volunteers. The importance of the contribution of volunteers has now been richly rewarded and we have been honoured with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. The ‘MBE for Volunteer Groups’ is the highest honour any voluntary group can achieve.

The Museum’s reliance upon volunteers is of vital importance. There are currently 100 volunteers registered. Ages, skills and abilities are far ranging. Everyone’s contribution and enthusiasm is appreciated and valued.

We run popular Learning Programmes for schools, Guided tours for members of the public (both ‘walk in’ and organised group visits.)  Children’s holiday workshops, Exhibitions and displays of the Museum’s Collection, Talks and fundraising events, Outreach activities, a Tea Room and gift shop.
